Väderstad Tempo F precision planters are built for New Zealand farmers who need fast, accurate row planting with optional fertiliser application. Väderstad Tempo F Precision Planter

The Väderstad Tempo F is a precision planter designed for fast, accurate row planting with optional fertiliser application, available in working widths from about 4.2 m to 6.4 m with 6 or 8 rows.

It features hydraulic support wheels for consistent seeding depth and individual row shut‑off on both seed and fertiliser meters to cut overlap and input costs.

Tempo F can be equipped with a large fertiliser hopper of roughly 1275 L or 1700 L, accessed via a safe, wide opening that reduces refill time. Smart features like curve compensation and active downforce improve placement accuracy, while low hydraulic demand and self‑powered metering keep tractor load and soil compaction down.

Impressive depth control

To ensure optimal depth control, Tempo F is equipped with hydraulic support wheels mounted between the row units, this avoids any tilting in hilly conditions. The wide tyre profile maintains the working depth irrespective of soil type. The large diameter ensures a smooth ride at high speeds, improving planting precision.

The eight-row Tempo F 8 has four support wheels which are coupled as a hydraulic bogie unit – walking tandem.

This ensures that the load on all wheels are the same in the field, giving the machine a smoother ride on uneven ground.

High precision planting for every farm

Tempo is designed to fit most tractors. It has a low hydraulic requirement, self-sufficient electric power and requires low draught force.

Tempo F has the option to equip the planter with a PTO-driven fan, this reduces the dependency of the tractor whilst still maintaining high precision planting.

High capacity fertiliser hopper

Tempo F can be equipped with a large fertiliser hopper and disc fertiliser coulters. Depending on model, the fertiliser hopper contains 1275 or 1700 litres.

The hopper is easy and safe to access via a platform and its large opening improves filling time and reduces downtime in the field.

Electric motors enable variable fertiliser rate, offering higher yield with the same amount of fertiliser.

Row shut off saves fertiliser

Together with the seed metering, the fertiliser metering has individual row shut off. This maintains the correct application even on irregular fields.

The fertiliser is metered through short hoses which improves the reaction time.

Individual row shut off provides equal conditions for the plant which leads to an even crop emergence and reduces fertiliser costs.

Curve compensation ensures a consistent rate

Active sensors communicate when the machine is turning and adjust the metering output of each row unit to always ensure a consistent rate over the full Tempo planter width.

With the active hydraulic downforce system, Tempo instantly reacts to changes in soil conditions, always maintaining the set optimum row unit pressure.

Zone 1 - Fertiliser placement (option)

Disc fertiliser coulters combined with a large hopper enable efficient fertiliser placement alongside the main crop.

The hopper is easy and safe to access via a platform, with a large opening that speeds up filling and reduces downtime. Spring-loaded fertiliser coulters can apply up to 150 kg of pressure, ensuring reliable performance even in direct drilling conditions.

Fertiliser placement can be adjusted both in depth and sideways to match crop needs. The gauge wheel on each coulter controls working depth while also reducing soil throw, ensuring accurate placement and maintaining consistent conditions for optimal nutrient uptake and crop development.

Zone 2 - Row cleaners (option)

Row cleaners are an optional feature on Tempo, designed to remove crop residues, clods, and stones. They are especially valuable in no-till systems or fields with high residue levels.

Each row cleaner is mounted on a parallel linkage, allowing precise ground following across uneven terrain. Working intensity is easily adjusted using a spring, enabling pressure to be increased or reduced as needed.

A self-cleaning rubber wheel controls depth, ensuring consistent performance of the spiked row cleaner disc. Optimised working angles and a floating design allow the row cleaners to match the machine’s precision, improving seed placement and overall planting accuracy.

Zone 3 - Seed placement

Tempo enables high-speed planting without compromising precision. The seed meter ensures accurate placement of every seed, maximising yield potential.

The standard 16 mm seed system is optimised for seeds under 15 mm, while a 22 mm system is available for larger seeds.

A 17 L micro granulate hopper matches the seed hopper capacity and can apply starter fertiliser or pesticide, either in the seed furrow or on the surface.

For small seeds like oilseed rape or sugar beet, a dedicated kit improves results with gentle handling, suspended stop wheels, and adjustable closing wheel angles for accurate shallow planting.

Zone 4 - Closing

When the seed is planted the closing wheel shut the seed slot and ensures perfect conditions for germination. Depending on farming requirements, the interface further allows for several industry-standard third-party closing wheel solutions.
